KNOXVILLE, Tennessee,
2003 March 21—Cyclomedical Applications Group is pleased to announce the appointment of its first two Associates, expanding the range of positron emission tomography (PET) services and capabilities offered to clients. Associates are invited to join Cyclomed based on their experience with particle accelerators or PET radiopharmaceutical production.

The company’s initial associate agreements announced today include:

Günter Firnau: Dr. Günter Firnau has contributed innovatively to the development of PET chemistry over the past 27 years, establishing PET radiochemistry at McMaster University and University of Ottawa Heart Institute in Canada. He has invented a number of novel PET tracers and held academic appointments at McMaster University, University of Toronto and University of Ottawa. President of FIRNAU Consulting Inc., he provides hands-on consulting for PET isotope production with cyclotrons, targetry, radiochemistry, quality control analysis, license applications, radiation safety programs and training.

James Doyle: Jim Doyle established one of the very first outpatient, freestanding PET Scanning facilities in Crown Point, IN, well before Medicare reimbursement of PET scans was established. Operating as Victoria Marketing and Development since then, he has assisted hospital-based, freestanding, and mobile PET systems throughout the United States, teaching referring physicians and owners of PET centers proven techniques to increase patient volume.

Dr. James Lamb, President of Cyclomed, said, “We are pleased to have Günter and Jim on our team. With the help of our Associates, Cyclomed can offer a PET accelerator owner/operator the benefit of a wide range of services from a single contractor.”

Cyclomedical Applications Group is an organization of experienced radiopharmaceutical experts serving the radiopharmaceutical industry, especially owners and operators of medical cyclotrons dedicated to the production of positron emitting radioisotopes. It works primarily with facilities producing and distributing F-18 FDG–the most widely used positron-emitting radiopharmaceutical in PET scanning.

Consulting services offered by the company range from short-term consultation to longer-term retainer arrangements and assistance with regulatory agencies as well as cyclotron operation and FDG production problems. Contract management services range from full responsibility for a cyclotron/FDG production facility to a monitoring posture in support of an in-place management team.

Cyclomed’s goal is to provide a full range of support expertise including FDG market research and development, facility financing, facility planning and operation, licensing and safety, and FDA regulatory issues. The company currently has operational responsibility for several cyclotron/FDG facilities and is providing cyclotron consultation services to a number of cyclotron operating companies.
