Brian Abeysekera
Brian Abeysekera is President of PharmaSPECT Inc, a company that provides cGMP and Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory expertise to PET and SPECT radiopharmaceutical manufacturers. He previously served as Vice President, Manufacturing for Molecular Insight Pharmaceuticals where he was responsible for all aspects of supply chain management for drug products for clinical trials and commercial supply and for Contract Manufacturing contracts and services. He has more than 25 years of experience in radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical development, including production, radiochemistry, quality control, quality assurance and regulatory affairs activities in the United States and Canada. From 1985 to 2007, he worked at MDS Nordion, where he held various positions in R&D, safety and regulatory affairs. During his tenure at Nordion, Dr. Abeysekera helped establish the company as a cGMP supplier of sterile pharmaceuticals; designed, developed and validated aseptic manufacturing facilities; directed scale-up from clinical to commercial manufacturing; and developed chemistry and manufacturing sections to support FDA submissions. Dr. Abeysekera holds a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of British Columbia.
